Course Description

This MISRA C training teaches embedded developers how to write safer, more portable and more analysable C using the MISRA C:2012 coding guidelines.

Pedagogical Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Use the structure of the MISRA consortium.
  • Implement the MISRA C rules.
  • Grasp C coding in embedded-software design and assess the associated risks.
  • Organize and classify the rules of the MISRA C standard.
  • Master compliance-testing tools.

  • Introduction: definition and objectives; publications and projects; previous versions.
  • The C language in embedded-software design: strengths; risks; reference standards (ISO/IEC 9899); the need for the MISRA C standard.
  • Using MISRA C: integration into the software development cycle (V-model); integration into the coding phase; internal rules / equivalence tables; compliance-testing tools.
  • MISRA C rules: classification and organization; putting the rules in place; automated tools; code reviews.
