2 days (14h)
CAN
Master the CAN bus (CAN Area Network): protocol theory, hardware and associated application layers.
Course Description
Pedagogical Objectives
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Know the CAN bus fundamentals and relate the CAN bus and its application layers to the OSI model.
- Understand the architecture of CAN frames (2.0A, 2.0B, FD).
- Grasp the implementation of CAN networks and devices.
- Understand the opening towards application layers (standardized and proprietary).
Course Program
- Introduction to CAN; the CAN bus (ISO 11898-1).
- CAN 2.0B: frame construction; stuffing / arbitration mechanisms; errors; bus speed (bit timing).
- CAN 2.0B differences; CAN FD evolutions.
- Physical layers (LS/HS/FD); topologies; media; physical signals.
- CAN components: controllers and transceivers.
- Application layers: CANopen, DeviceNet, J1939, ISO-TP.
Pedagogical Means
A digital training manual is provided to each participant. The session’s teaching plan outlines the methods used.
Monitoring of Participants
Entry questionnaire, mid-training quiz, exit questionnaire, and a satisfaction survey.
