Pedagogical Objectives
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Understand the fundamentals of industrial Ethernet networks and fieldbuses.
- Know Ethernet technology.
- Grasp the fundamental and advanced principles of EtherCAT.
- Grasp investigation techniques for problem resolution.
Course Program
- Ethernet operation recap; EtherCAT basics.
- Topologies: possible topologies; integration into a classic Ethernet network; redundancy; Hot Connect and Fast Hot Connect.
- EtherCAT frame structure: the frame; datagram header; addressing; circulating-frame principle; EtherCAT command types; Working Counter.
- EtherCAT Slave Controller: Process Unit, FMMU, SyncManager, EEPROM, IRQ, slave states, watchdog.
- Mailboxes: general operation; CoE / EoE / FoE / SoE.
- Communication timing (SYNC/DC); Safety over EtherCAT (FSoE).
- Analysis and diagnostics; installing EtherCAT networks.
